Great Ladies of Jazz

Soulful.  Sultry.  Jazzy.  I mean to attract you with my voice, electrifying smile and joyful stage presence mixed with powerful interpretations, impassioned vocals with improvised commentary spanning musical genres and languages. In addition to singing for over 1,000,000 children since the 80's, I've learned from the best singing alongside luminaries  lik Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Arif Mardin, Jewel, Harry Belafonte, Rod Stewart, Mary J Blige, Ashford and Simpson, Dave Matthews, Edie Brickell, Bakithi Kumalo, John Hiatt. Daniel Rodriguez, & Eileen Ivers among others.

My unique musical style and stagecraft defines my performance. I'm a  performance artist singing classic melodies that still have the power to bring a tear to the eye and joy to the soul, decades after the fact. For me, singing songs popularized Great Ladies of Jazz, pays homage to many powerhouses like Simone, Makeba, Franklin, Fitzgerald, O'Day, Flack, Pearl Bailey, Vaughan, with my originals slid in between because they fit.  Wit, personality, and musical spontaneity flavors my art-making; welcome to my world....take a seat and imagine the possibilities.

The Blues tell the story of life’s difficulties, and if you think for a moment, you will realize that they take the hardest realities of life and put them into music, only to come out with some new hope or sense of triumph. This is triumphant music.” - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Excerpt from Dr. Kings speech given at the 1964 edition Berlin Jazz Festival.
