Be the FIRST of your friends to host a House Concert - a very popular way for music lovers to hear their favorite American music up close and personal.  We'll practice speaking English & we sing together as well.  The trending House Concert movement brings live music into homes by connecting performers with listeners in a friendly, respectful setting. It’s a concert just like you would find in a club or theater, but held in your comfortable living room or porch.

House Concerts happen when everyone pitches in. Someone offers their home as a venue; guests make a donation at the door; I bring the American Music I've made with artists like Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross & Rod Stewart among others.  We have a great time!

It’s a very simple formula guaranteed to create magical moments that are unforgettable.

What better way to enjoy the music of North America & Africa by having ME perform a House Concert for you & yours. If you have a piano - even better!

House Concerts are an excellent way to know me better as an American artist.   Provide your comfortable home & I'll perform just for you even your requests (we all need more live music, don’t we?) You'll be giving me the tangible support required to continue making music. But unlike a private party where you hire a band to play and pay for it out of your own pocket. House Concerts are organized around the principle that everyone who comes to hear the music chips in. (Sharing is good, right?)

How I'll Get Paid:

The most common way of paying for a House Concert is to have everyone who comes make a donation at the door. This doesn’t have to be complicated: it can be as simple as putting a box on a table by the door with a sign and letting people make their donation when they come in. Donations accepted in cash, credit cards and even bitcoins.

Sponsor a House Concert by inviting friends and family to chip in. It's a wonderful thing to help build community; It’s amazing the things that are possible when we all work together :)  I play for groups of 20 to 30 people (I need a minimum of 15). We can go as large as 50 people. The suggested donation for an intimate, private House Concert is $25 per person. It’s good to let people know this ahead of time when you invite them so there’s no confusion. Let them know that this is not a fee you're charging, but rather a voluntary donation to meet & support me during my tour & visit in BsAs.

[Occasionally, the organizer of a House Concert chooses to pay for the concert out of their own pocket. If you are able to do this and prefer this approach, let's set a fee for the concert based on how many people come. Again, I'll need a minimum of 15 people.]

HOW TO Organize a House Concert:

It's easy & a fun way to make the winter warmer & have cultural exchange:

1) Book Me & set a date before September 15th **USE THE FORM ON THIS PAGE**
2) Tell your friends (Ask them to RSVP, so you know what to expect).
3) People often prepare some food for their friends… but it can also be potluck
4) Get ready to have fun!

*To avoid any hassles with local regulations, it’s important to make clear.
1) This is a private event
2) Guests must RSVP
3) All proceeds go to the artists.

My Great African American Songbook

I look forward to sharing my African American heritage with stories & songs for all ages, especially children over the age of 35 who may have heard of some of the artists I pay homage to in this concert.

As a backing vocalist, I've had the honor to meet & work with a few of the legends I pay tribute to in this collections of songs, including Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Miriam Makeba, Cindy Lauper, Ashford & Simpson, Harry Belafonte among others that demonstrated the range of music that grew me up.  During my two hour concert, I touch on as many as I possibly can, including original material that I"ve created and add to my Great African American Songbook.

This is a very spiritual event for me, calling on my ancestors from my mother's line, so gospel & spirituals come in, and from my father's Choctaw side, native American chanting & praise songs.  Both parents gave me the beat to keep.  My roots, like many of the ladies of piano that I acknowledge in this piece, began with classical music study which for me has become infused into all that I bring forth as an artist.

As a storyteller, My Great African American Songbook, tells a story that spans many lands, cultures, & genres and is more than a story about oppression, but a story about striving to survive - I've added some videos & photos into the program to better explain the perspective beyond the usual images associated with African American culture for it's a grand story that I'm sharing to educate others while uplifting myself from the roots on up.

It's historical.  It's contemporary  It's personal. It's the soundtrack of my life.  My Great African American Songbook.
