Robbi: Thank you for your wonderful presentations on Wednesday. Despite the fact that you have not been feeling well, on Wednesday you did two workshops. One for the parents and one for the TAs. Although I was unable to attend – I am still not able to walk down/upstairs, I heard about the engaging workshop for the parents. I also saw the pictures that you sent. Faces smiling, parents playing music – learning how to bring music into their homes. The TA workshop was very helpful – you directed the TAs to become more engaged in the music instruction when you are there. This has often been a problem for our staff when the 611/619 staff go into the rooms. You addressed this with sincerity. Thank you for all your work, support and love of music!!! Music is the universal language – our children get so much from all the work you put into the instruction. I didn’t know what to expect and after watching the promo video I thought the show may not be a good fit for my 4 th graders but when we saw the actual show it was just a perfect fit!! The storyteller and the story were so engaging and the kids just ate it up. I’ve been to many many Schooltime series shows and this one was the best one so far!

TRANSLATION: ROBBI K THE BEST EXPERIENCE ... .. All ways & Always!! The high school students came in. The talk started with an interactive activity (Mad Libs) where the students had to say some words in English to form the story of what Robbi K was doing; I thought it was very nice because that apparent incongruity of words that described the 'DO' of Robbi K was the beginning to reveal, little by little, her true BEING. She began to tell us her story with the question her mother asked her when she was a girl: 'What do you want to be when you grow up?' Robbi replied: BE HAPPY !!! It is not often when I can truly say to someone that a performance like this ......and how it comes out of you.......brings about such a quality of being "genuine" and is so moving. BRAVA to a true professional, in every sense! And I don't hand out such compliments so lightly! J-Bird Post by Robbi Kumalo.

Robbi K has great stage presence, and she was great with the kids in the audience. At one point she got down in the middle of the kiddie dance floor and had the kids dancing and singing. It took shy Olive a while to get warmed up, but she was grooving by the end. Robbi K even brought some rooster puppetry into the act. Can’t go wrong with that. It was a lovely morning, and Robbi K is a nice change of pace from the usually rock and pop inspired kids music. Also, 92YTribeca has a terrific space to see a show like this. The vibe is casual, there’s room to dance, it sounds great, and there’s a cafe on the scene to grab a cup of coffee. I’m pretty sure I even saw one parent with a mimosa. (I was tempted to hunt down a martini but then realized, despite the fact that I was in a club seeing live music, it was 11:00 in the morning and I was surrounded by preschoolers.) Robbi K has great stage presence, and she was great with the kids in the audience.
