I love this exciting moment of anticipation just before the show starts. I remember the exhilarated feelings experiencing when I saw my first Broadway show, ballet, & opera as a kid. Being there in the audience was magical! What a childhood; amazing memories thanks to my big sister who easily shared music with me.

My first taste of doing children's theatre happened in 1981. I had the opportunity to create, write, perform, direct a Sunday family performance to be held at the local university's theater. I did & discovered who I was at 17 years old - totally bitten by the bug. Since then, I've concentrated my energy on recreating the excitement about live performance with and for, children. I'm often the first school assembly! In this day of screen-domination; it's a wonderful position to hold, my work is about making an indelible impression.

From the stage my work lets me engage, command & spellbind; to suspend time while weaving together a lifetime of experiences, humor, rhythms, sounds, conversations, movements, & connections for young & old alike.

Theater. Dance. Music. All here to help us to understand. This is my job & my purpose.

I co-create thematic assemblies that connect to a week-long residency in public schools, longer for independent/charter schools.  Keeping the model of the jazz band in mind as you read..think about all the parts of that band & what's needed to sound great!

So, the arts are a natural pathway for discovering who we are.  Dance. Music. Theater. Visual Arts. Circus Arts. Any kind of arts. I've been connected to my creative self since I was 3.  I looked at things differently and learned everything through the arts.  Today, I'm a Teaching & Performing Artist.  My fortunate artistic destination is to offer paralleled ways of learning, which are equally as disciplined as science & math.  The arts are used by, are shaped by, every culture & individual on the planet.  Think Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers, Tesla, Ben Franklin - DaVinci.

Any & all of the arts penetrate our lives on a daily basis.  In my hometown of Patchogue, NY. we've generated a significant part of the creative and intellectual capital that drives the local economy- because of an arts space, Of Colors, in the heart of the town!  It's open and inclusive to all.  The people come!  Humans are creative by nature.  It's in our DNA.  Music affects our life with meaning every time we hear a song.  Feel that song as you recollect memories.  Respond to its rhythms and melodies; you're using a life skill.  A flash of inspiration comes when we see a sculpture, enjoy a traditional dance with family, learn from an exciting animation on our phones, or get captivated by a Broadway play - like Hamilton.  We easily find a piece of ourselves within that art form.  Although the experience is unique to our self, we share it with others - no matter one's color, shape, age, size or income.   Simply put, arts education strengthens and focuses the work students do in school while aligning with the curriculum.

I was a blessed child and lucky as a student.  In HS, my teachers embraced my learning style and were flexible in their teaching style to best educate me.  I'm inspired by their teaching; they were inspired by my love of learning.  I also offer PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WKSHPS for educators re: the joys of teaching with the arts.

Since the 1800s, arts education has been an intrinsic part of American education.   Let's pair any one of the many genres of arts with curriculum!  Let's align curriculum and music, drama & dance!  Create.  Perform/Present/Produce. Respond. Connect.  The artistic process is anchored in core curriculum.  This is what I love doing.  I'm a trained Lincoln Center Institute of Aesthetic Education and (C3) SQUARED trained Teaching and Performing Artist.  I look forward to partnering with your school in 2017-18!
