Managing Music & MS
According to the National MS Society:
"Multiple sclerosis (MS) involves an immune-mediated process in which an abnormal response of the body’s immune system is directed against the central nervous system (CNS), which is made up of the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. The exact antigen — or target that the immune cells are sensitized to attack — remains unknown, which is why MS is considered by many experts to be "immune-mediated" rather than "autoimmune."
I'm choosing natural solutions that may help to calm the autoimmune response and the overall health of my body, mind and soul. Time for essential oils, alkaline diet & no more dead meat into my healing gut biome!
I've had positive results using several oils for everything from insomnia to anxiety, stress to digestion - yes, even spasticity. I'm always needing more energy because when I go, I give 100% of myself. Plants as medicine is helping me so is using food as medicine. I've found better living through essential oils for going on two years. Quality of essential oils must be superior to insure the safest & most effective way to use essential oils whether ingested or topically.
The beginning is always the toughest. Taking that first step. I did. Along with diet, yoga, meditation, music, letting go of what doesn't serve me any more is helping me manage my MS so I can live better!
Time to change your medicine cabinet!
I'm excited about how my medicine cabinet has changed! Essential oils help with many issues, medical, mental or physical. In learning more about essential oils and MS. Please remember: I'm not a medical professional and do not make recommendations - just suggestions - that you should check out further. Sometimes you gotta try many thing to see what works for you. A general rule of thumb for managing MS is to remove parasites to reduce inflammation, sooth nerves, provide calm energy, provide comfort to aches and pains, and to enliven numb and tingling areas.
Like herbs and minerals, the FDA does not regulate essentials oils. Most medical doctors don’t consider them a valid treatment for what ails you, but those who use them are true believers. But check with your doctor first. If you have allergies or anaphylaxis, you’ll probably want to avoid most essential oils. By and large, though, they’re worth a try.
The National Center for Biotechnology Information states that, in MS patients, “essential oils (aromatherapy) may give symptomatic relief with sleep, relaxation, joint mobility, and an improved sense of well-being.” Below is a list of the essential oils to that may help to ease symptoms of various conditions:
For Pain: Spike lavender, sweet marjoram, lavender, petitgrain, Roman and German chamomile, clary sage, lemongrass, helichrysum, peppermint, ginger, black pepper.
For Stress: Rose otto, frankincense, clary sage, sweet orange, bergamot, grapefruit, ylang ylang, sandalwood, neroli, sweet marjoram, petitgrain, mandarin, lavender, rose geranium, tangerine, jasmine.
For Sleep: Lavender, neroli, jasmine, marjoram, Roman chamomile.
For Sense of Well-Being: Frankincense, lavender, rose, mandarin, neroli, helichrysum.
For Headaches: Lavender, peppermint, marjoram, Roman chamomile.
For Circulation: Rosemary, ginger, black pepper, peppermint, lemongrass, rose geranium.
Early research shows more possible benefits for essential oils in these areas:
For Antioxidant Properties: Lavender.
For Anticancer Properties: Lemongrass, thyme.
For Anti-inflammatory Properties: Myrrh, frankincense.
For Nausea: Peppermint, spearmint.
For Hormone Regulation: Thyme, coconut.
For Brain Function and Nerve: Coconut.
With this in mind, here's a general Protocol for MS using essential oils, adapted from a variety of sites and personal experiences:
