About MS rŌbi
I'm Robbi Hall Kumalo — MS rŌbi. Portland-based vocalist, composer, storyteller, memoirist, lifelong artist. One artist. Nine vocations.
For nearly five decades I lived across stage, page, screen, and classroom — standing beside Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Rod Stewart, Jewel, Harry Belafonte, and Mary J. Blige, and standing in front of classrooms of five-year-olds. Both counted. I'm a credited vocalist on the Grammy-nominated album All One Tribe (1 Tribe Collective, 2022), and my children's music reached more than a million kids and families.
I miss working. I used to do great things — you can see it on this site, in the older videos. But I don't do those things anymore. In 2014 I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and MS isn't going anywhere. If anything, it's getting worse.
But as long as I can sit down and make something, I'm making it: the podcast Multiplesuperb!nesS, my memoir Married to a Rockstar, new films, new songs. I am not beginning — I am returning and evolving.
"What I sell was never cheap. It's very, very expensive — the price? You have to pay attention.
